Call to worship
God is light,
and there is no darkness at all in him.
If we live in the light
—just as he is in the light
—then we have fellowship with one another
and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from every sin.

MP 94 : Come let us sing

1 Come, let us sing of a wonderful love,
tender and true,
out of the heart of the Father above,
streaming to me and you:
wonderful love
dwells in the hear of the Father above.

2 Jesus, the Saviour, this gospel to tell,
joyfully came;
came with the helpless and
hopeless to dwell,
sharing their sorrow and shame;
seeking the lost,
saving, redeeming at measureless cost.

3 Jesus is seeking the wanders yet, Why do they roam?
Love only waits to forgive and forget,
Home! weary wanderers, home!
Wonderful love
dwells in the heart of the Father above.

4 Come to my heart, O Thou wonderful Love,
come and abide,
lifting my life till it rises above
envy and falsehood and pride;
seeking to be
lowly and humble, learner of Thee.

MP 38: As we are gathered

1 As we are gathered, Jesus is here,
one with each other, Jesus is here:
joined by the Spirit, washed in His blood<
part of the body, the Church of God.
As we are gathered, Jesus is here,
one with each other, Jesus is here:

Luke 10:25-37
On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. ‘Teacher,’ he asked, ‘what must I do to inherit eternal life?’
‘What is written in the Law?’ he replied. ‘How do you read it?’
He answered, ‘“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind” and, “Love your neighbour as yourself.”
You have answered correctly,’ Jesus replied. ‘Do this and you will live.’
But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbour?’In reply Jesus said: ‘A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half-dead.
A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.
So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.
He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.
The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. “Look after him,” he said, “and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.”
‘Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?’
The expert in the law replied, ‘The one who had mercy on him.’
Jesus told him, ‘Go and do likewise.’

CH4 544 When I needed a neighbour

1 When I needed a neighbour
were you there, were you there?
When I needed a neighbour were you there?
Chorus And the creed and the colour and name don’t mater were you there?

2 I was hungry and thirsty
were you there, were you there?
I was hungry and thirsty were you there?

3 I was cold I was naked
were you there, were you there?
I was cold, I was naked were you there?

4 When I needed a shelter,
were you there, were you there?
When I needed a shelter, were you there?

5 When I needed a neighbour
were you there, were you there?
When I needed a neighbour were you there?

6 Wherever you travel
I’ll be there, I’ll be there
Wherever you travel I’ll be there
And the creed and the colour and name don’t mater I’ll be there

CH4 257; Singing we gladly

CH4 257 : Singing we gladly
Refrain (sung twice:)
Singing, we gladly worship the Lord together.
Singing, we gladly worship the Lord.
Those who are travelling the road of life
sow seeds of peace and love.
1 Come, bringing hope into a world of fear,
a world which is burdened down with dread,
a world which is yearning for a greater love
but needs to be shown the true way.
2 Come, bringing joyfully in both your hands
some kindling to light the path of peace,
some hope that there is a more human world
where justice and truth will be born.
3 Whenever hatefulness and violence
are banished for ever from our hearts,
then will the world believe the day is near
when sadness and pain shall find their end.

MP 628: Tell me the old, old story

1 Tell me the old, old story
of unseen things above,
of Jesus and His glory
of Jesus and His love.
Tell me the story simply,
as to a little child
for I am weak and weary,
and helpless and defiled.
Chorus Tell me the old, old story
Tell me the old, old story
Tell me the old, old story
of Jesus and His love.

2 Tell me the story slowly
that I may rake it in –
that wonderful redemption
God’s remedy for sin
Tell me the story often,
for I forget so soon
the early dew of morning
has passed away at noon.

3 Tell me the story softly
with earnest tines and grave;
Remember I’m the sinner
whom Jesus came to save.
Tell me the story always
if you would really be,
in any time of trouble,
a comforter to me

4 Tell me the same old story,
when you have cause to fear
that this world’s empty glory
is costing me too dear.
Yes, and when that world’s glory
is dawning on my soul,
tell me the old, old story;
‘Christ makes you whole’
