Call to Worship
Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly
Whoever sows generously will reap generously
Each of you should give from your heart
Not reluctantly, not under compulsion
For God loves a cheerful giver.
And God is able to bless you abundantly
So that in all things and at all times
You have all you need
And will be able to do God’s good work

MP 1201 : Longing for light

1 Longing for light, we wait in darkness,
Longing for truth, we turn to You.
Make us Your own, Your holy people;
light for the world to see.
Chorus: Christ, be our light!
Shine in our hearts,
shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in Your church
gathered today.

2 Longing for peace, our world is troubled.
Longing for hope, many despair.
Your word alone has power to save us.
Make us Your living voice.

3 Longing for food, many are hungry.
Longing for water, many still thirst.
Make us Your bread, broken for others,
shared until all are fed.

4 Longing for shelter, many are homeless.
Longing for warmth, many are cold.
Make us Your building,
sheltering others,
wall made of living stone.

5 Many the gifts, many the people,
many the hearts that yearn to belong.
Let us be servants no one another,
making Your kingdom come.

JP 67 : Hallelu, Hallelu

Hallelu, hallelu, hallelu, hallelujah
We’ll praise the Lord;
Hallelu, hallelu, hallelu, hallelujah
We’ll praise the Lord!

We’ll praise the Lord, hallelujah,
We’ll praise the Lord, hallelujah,
We’ll praise the Lord, hallelujah,
We’ll praise the Lord!

Philippians 2: 1 – 18 New International Version

Therefore, if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross!

Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”
Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labour in vain.  But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So, you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

MP 799 : All I once held dear

1 All I once held dear,
built my life upon,
all this world reveres,
and wars to own,
all I once thought gain
I have counted loss;
spent and worthless now,
compared to this:
Chorus: Knowing You, Jesus,
knowing You,
there is no greater thing.
You’re my all,
You’re the best,
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
and I love You, Lord.

2 Now my heart’s desire
is to know You more,
to be found in You
and known as Yours,
to possess by faith
what I could not earn<
all-surpassing gift
or righteousness.

3 Oh, to know the power
of Your risen life,
and to know You in
Your suffering,
to become like You
in Your death, my Lord,
so with You to live
and never die.

MP 486: Now thank we all our God

1 Now thank we all our God,
with hearts, and hands, and voices;
who wonderous things hath done,
in whom His world rejoices;
Who, from our mother’s arms,
hath blest us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.

2 O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever-joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us;
and keep us in His grace,
and guide us when perplexed
and free us from all ills
in this world and the next.

3 All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given,
the Son, and Him who reigns
with Them in highest heaven;
the one eternal God,
whom heaven and earth adore
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.
