Call to Worship
Come out from the shadows
and into the light of morning.
Come, empty and depleted,
to be filled with God’s Spirit.

Come, sober in sorrow,
and leave drunk with joy.
Come, expecting nothing,
but ready to be surprised.

Above all, come, and know
that you are welcome here.

MP 18 : All over the world

1 All over the world the Spirit is moving,
all over the world as the prophet said it would be;
all over the world there’s a mighty revelation
of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

2 All over His Church God’s Spirit is moving,
all over His Church as the prophet said it would be;
all over His Church there’s a mighty revelation
of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

3 Right here in this place the Spirit is moving,
right here in this place as the prophet said it would be;
right here in the place there’s a mighty revelation
of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

Acts 2:1-13

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.
Utterly amazed, they asked: ‘Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?
Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia,
Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene;
visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism);
Cretans and Arabs – we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!’
Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another,
‘What does this mean?’
Some, however, made fun of them and said, ‘They have had too much wine.’

MP 144 : Fear not rejoice and be glad

Chorus
Fear not, rejoice and be glad,
the Lord hath done a great thing;
hath poured out His Spirit on all mankind,
on those who confess His name.

1 The fig tree is budding, the vine beareth fruit,
the wheat fields are golden with grain.
Thrust in the sickle, the harvest is ripe,
the Lord has given us rain.
Chorus

2 Ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
the mountains will drip with sweet wine.
My children shall drink of the fountain of life,
My children will know they are Mine.
Chorus

3 My people shall know that I am the Lord,
their shame I have taken away.
My spirit will lead them together again,
My Spirit will show them the way.
Chorus

4 My children shall dwell in a body of love,
a light to the world they will be.
Life shall come forth from the Father above,
My body will set mankind free.
Chorus

CH4 600 : Spirit of God unseen as the wind

Chorus
Spirit of God, unseen as the wind,
gentle as is the dove,
teach us the truth and help us believe,
show us the Saviour’s love.

1 You spoke to us long, long ago,
gave us the written word;
we read it still, needing its truth,
through it God’s voice is heard.
Chorus

2 Without your help we fail our Lord,
we cannot live his way;
we need your power, we need your strength,
following Christ each day.
Chorus
