Call to Worship

God with us in green pasture
God present beside still water
God for us in the dark vale
God whose Goodness and mercy
Follow us

We follow and worship you
And praise your Holy Name

MP 1008 : The Lord’s my shepherd

1 The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want.
He makes me lie in pastures green,
He leads me by the still, still waters,
His goodness restores my soul.

Chorus
And I will trust in you alone,
And I will trust in you alone,
for Your endless mercy follows me,
Your goodness will lead me home.

2 He guides my ways in righteousness,
and He anoints my head with oil,
and my cup, it overflows with joy,
I feast on His pure delights.
Chorus

3 And though I walk the darkest path,
I will not fear the evil one,
for You are with me, and Your rod and staff
are the comfort I need to know.
Chorus

John 10 : 11-18

‘I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So, when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.
Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.
The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
‘I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me – just as the Father knows me and I know the Father – and I lay down my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep that are not of this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life – only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.’

MP 649 : The King of Love my Shepherd is

1 The King of love my shepherd is,
whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am His
and He is mine forever.

2 Where streams of living water flow
my ransomed soul He leadeth,
and where the verdant pastures grow
with food celestial feedeth.

3 Perverse and foolish oft I strayed;
but yet in love He sought me,
and on His shoulder gently laid,
and home rejoicing brought me.

4 In death’s dark vale I fear no ill
with Thee, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.

5 Thou spread’st a table in my sight;
Thy unction grace bestoweth;
and O what transport of delight
for Thy pure chalice floweth!

CH4 355: Lord you are both lamb and shepherd

1 You, Lord, are both Lamb and Shepherd.
You, Lord, are both prince and slave.
You, peacemaker and sword-bringer
in the way you took and gave.
You, the everlasting instant;
you, whom we both scorn and crave.

2 Clothed in light upon the mountain,
stripped of might upon the cross,
shining in eternal glory,
harrowing hell to save the lost,
you, the everlasting instant;
you, who are our gift and cost.

3 You, who walk each day beside us,
sit in power at God’s side.
You, who preach a way that’s narrow,
have a love that reaches wide.
You, the everlasting instant;
you, who are pilgrim guide.

4 Worthy is our earthly Jesus!
Worthy is our cosmic Christ!
Worthy your defeat and vict’ry.
Worthy still you peace and strife.
You, the everlasting instant;
you, who are death and life.
