Call to worship

Come to God
who wants us to flourish

Come to God
whose image lives in every soul

Come to God
whose life is the heartbeat of the world

Come to God
who knows our failings – and our possibilities

MP 37 As the deer pants for the water

1 As the deer pants for the water,
so my soul longs after You.
You alone are my heart’s desire
and I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield,
to You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire
and I long to workship You.

2 I want You more than gold or silver,
only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy-giver
and the apple of my eye.
Chorus

3 You’re my friend and You’re my brother,
even though You are a king.
I love You more than any other,
so much more than anything.
Chorus

John 12:20-33

Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. ‘Sir,’ they said, ‘we would like to see Jesus.’ Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.

Jesus replied, ‘The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honour the one who serves me.

‘Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? “Father, save me from this hour”? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!’

Then a voice came from heaven, ‘I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.’ The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.

Jesus said, ‘This voice was for your benefit, not mine. Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up[a] from the earth, will draw all people to myself.’ He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

MP 275: I heard the voice of Jesus

1 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
‘Come unto Me and rest;
lay down, thou weary one, lay down,
thy head upon My breast’:
I came to Jesus as I was,
weary, and worn, and sad;
I found in Him a resting-place,
and He has made me glad.

2 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
‘Behold, I freely give
the living water; thirsty one,
stoop down and drink,  and live’:
I came to Jesus, and I drank
of that life-giving stream;
my thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
and now I live in Him.

3 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
‘I am this dark world’s light;
look unto Me, thy morn shall rise,
and all thy day be bright’:
I looked to Jesus and I found
in Him my star, my sun;
and in that light of life I’ll walk
till travelling days are done.

MP 417 : Lift high the cross ( v 1, 6,7,8 )

Chorus
Lift high the cross,
the love of Christ proclaim,
till all the world
adores His sacred name!

1 Come, Christians,
follow where the captain trod,
the King victorious,
Christ, the Son of God:
Chorus

6 Let every race and every language tell
of Him who saves our souls
from death and hell!
Chorus

7 O Lord, once lifted on the tree of pain,
draw all the world
to see You once again:
Chorus

8 Set up Thy throme,
that earth’s despair may cease
beneath the shadow
of it’s healing peace:
Chorus

MP 460 : May God’s blessing surround you

May God’s blessing surround you each day,
as you trust Him and walk in His way.
May His presence within guard
and keep you form sin,
go in peace, go in joy, go in love.
