Call to Worship
Come to the One who calls us by name, the One who cares for, and comforts us:
Come to the One who comes to us, the One who bends down to meet us here:
Come to the One who is worthy of praise, the One who rescues and redeems us:
God is our treasure and our home, the inheritance of the faithful:
Come for the Holy One is in our midst.

CH4 506 /MP 799 : All I once held dear

1 All I once held dear, built my life upon
All this world reveres and wars to own
All I once thought gain, I have counted loss
Spent and worthless now, compared to this
Chorus; Knowing you Jesus, knowing you
There is no greater thing
You’re my all you’re the best
You’re my joy and righteousness
And I love you Lord
2 Now my heart’s desire is to know you more
To be found in you and known as yours
To possess by faith what I could not earn
All surpassing gift of righteousness
3 Oh, to know the power of your risen life
And to know you in your sufferings
To become like you in your death my Lord
So with you to live and never die

Luke 12:13-21 New International Version – UK

The parable of the rich fool
Someone in the crowd said to him, ‘Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.’
Jesus replied, ‘Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?’
Then he said to them, ‘Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.’
And he told them this parable: ‘
The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, “What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.”
‘Then he said, “This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, ‘You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.’”
But God said to him, “You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?”
This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich towards God.’

CH4 502 : Take my life

1 Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
2 Take my hands, and let them move
at the impulse of Thy Love;
take my feet, and let them be
swift and beautiful for Thee.
3 Take my hands, and let them move
at the impulse of Thy Love;
take my feet, and let them be
swift and beautiful for Thee.
4 Take my silver and my gold,
not a mite would I withhold;
take my intellect, and use
every power as Thou shalt chose
5 Take my will, and make it Thine;
it shall be no longer mine:
take my heart, it is Thine own;
it shall be Thy royal throne.
6 Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at Thy feet its treasure store:
take myself, and I will be
ever, only all for Thee.

CH4 180/ MP 170: Give thanks with a grateful heart

Give thanks with a grateful heart,
give thanks to the Holy One;
give thanks because He’s given
Jesus Christ, His Son.
Give thanks with a grateful heart
give thanks to the Holy One;
give thanks because He’s given
Jesus Christ, His Son.
And now let the weak say, ‘I am strong’
let the poor say, ‘I am rich’,
because what the Lord has done for us;
And now let the weak say, ‘I am strong’
let the poor say, ‘I am rich’,
because what the Lord has done for us;
Give thanks with a grateful heart
give thanks to the Holy One;
give thanks because He’s given
Jesus Christ, His Son
And now let the weak say, ‘I am strong’
let the poor say, ‘I am rich’,
because what the Lord has done for us;
And now let the weak say, ‘I am strong’
let the poor say, ‘I am rich’,
because what the Lord has done for us;

CH4 240: God in such love for us

1 God in such love for us lent us this planet
gave it a purpose in time and space
small as a spark from the fire of creation,
cradle of life and the home of our rock.
2 Thanks be to God for its bounty and beauty,
life that sustains us in body and mind;
plenty for all, if we learn how to share it,
riches undreamed of to fathom and find.
3 Long have our human wars ruined is harvest;
long has earth bowed to the terror of force;
long have we wasted what others have the need of,
poisoned the fountain of life at its source.
4 Earth is the Lord’s; it is ours to enjoy it,
ours, as God’s stewards, to farm and defend.
From its pollution, misuse, and destruction,
good Lord, deliver us, world without end!

CH4 153/MP 200; Great is thy faithfulness

1 Great is Thy faithfulness,
O God my Father,
there is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not,
Thy compassions they fail not,
as Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Chorus
Great is Thy faithfulness,
great is Thy faithfulness;
morning by morning
new mercies I see;
all I have needed
Thy hand hath provided –
great is Thy faithfulness,
Lord unto me!
2 Summer and winter,
And springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars
in their courses above,
join with all nature in manifold witness
to Thy great faithfulness,
mercy and love.
Chorus
3 Pardon for sin,
and peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence
to cheer and to guide;
strength for today
and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessing all mine
with ten thousand beside!
Chorus
