CH4 63/MP 20: All people that on earth

Acts 2:1-12 New International Version – UK
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.
When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.
Utterly amazed, they asked: ‘Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?
Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
Parthians, Medes and Elamites;
residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs – we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!’
Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, ‘What does this mean?’

CH4 194/MP 691 :  This is the day

1 This is the day,
this is the day that the Lord has made,
that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice,
we will rejoice and be glad in it,
and be glad in it.
This is the day,
this is the day that the Lord hath made,

2 This is the day,
this is the day when He rose again,
when he rose again.
We will rejoice
we will rejoice and be glad in it,
and be glad in it.
This is the day when He rose again,
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day,
this is the day when He rose again.

3 This is the day,
this is the day when the Spirt came,
when the Spirit came.
We will rejoice
we will rejoice and be glad in it,
and be glad in it.
This is the day when the Spirit came,
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day
this is the day when the Spirit came.

MP 18 :  All over the world

1 All over the world the Spirit is moving,
all over the world as the prophet said it would be;
all over the world there’s a mighty revelation
of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

2 All over His Church God’s Spirit is moving,
all over His Church as the prophet said it would be;
all over His Church there’s a mighty revelation
of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
3 Right here in this place the Spirit is moving,
right here in this place as the prophet said it would be;
right here in the place there’s a mighty revelation
of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

CH4 600:/MP 1351:  Spirit of God unseen as the wind

Chorus
Spirit of God, unseen as the wind,
gentle as is the dove,
teach us the truth and help us believe,
show us the Saviour’s love.
1 You spoke to us long, long ago,
gave us the written word;
we read it still, needing its truth,
through it God’s voice is heard.
Chorus
2 Without your help we fail our Lord,
we cannot live his way;
we need your power, we need your strength,
following Christ each day.
Chorus
CH4 655: For your generous providing (organist choose tune)

1 For your generous providing
which sustains us all our days,
for your Spirit here residing,
we proclaim our heartfelt praise.
Through the depths of joy and sorrow,
though the road be smooth or rough,
fearless, we can face tomorrow
for your grace will be enough,

2 Hush our world’s seductive noises
tempting us to stand alone;
save us from the sire voices
calling us to trust our own.
For those snared by earthly treasure,
lured by false security,
Jesus, true and only measure,
spring the trap to set folk free.

3 Round our table, through your giving,
show us how to live and pray,
till you kingdom’s way of living
is the bread we share each day;
bread for us and for our neighbour
bread for body, mind and soul,
bread of heaven and human labour –
broken bread that make us whole.

CH4 515/MP604: Soldiers of Christ arise

1 Soldiers of Christ, arise,
and put your armour on,
strong in the strength
which God supplies
through His enteral Son.
Strong in the Lord of hosts,
and in His mighty powers;
who in the strength of Jesus trusts
is more than conqueror.
2 Stand then in His great might,
with all His strength endued;
and take, to arm you for the fight,
the panoply of God;
to keep your armour bright,
attend with constant care,
still walking in your Captain’s sight
and watching unto prayer.
3 From strength to strength go on,
wrestle and fight and pray;
tread all the powers of darkness down
and win the well-fought day.
That, having all things done,
and all your conflicts past,
ye may o’ercome through Christ alone,
and stand entire at last.

CH4 703/MP 194: National Anthem

1 God save our gracious Queen,
long live our Noble Queen,
God save the Queen!
send her victorious,
happy and glorious ;
long to reign over us;
God save the Queen!

2 Thy choicest gifts in tore
on her be pleased to pour,
long may she reign!
May she defend our laws
and ever give us cause
to sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen!
