\nAfter Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

\nFrom Troas we put out to sea and sailed straight for Samothrace, and the next day we went on to Neapolis.\u00a0From there we travelled to Philippi, a Roman colony and the leading city of that district of Macedonia. And we stayed there several days.
\nOn the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there.
\nOne of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshipper of God.
\nThe Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul\u2019s message.
\nWhen she and the members of her household were baptised, she invited us to her home.
\n\u2018If you consider me a believer in the Lord,\u2019 she said, \u2018come and stay at my house.\u2019 And she persuaded us.<\/p>\n
\nWho will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
\nWho then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died\u00a0\u2013 more than that, who was raised to life\u00a0\u2013 is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
\nWho shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
\nAs it is written:
\n\u2018For your sake we face death all day long;\u00a0we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.\u2019
\n<\/sup><\/strong>No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
\nFor I am convinced that neither death nor life,\u00a0neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future,\u00a0nor any powers, neither height nor depth,\u00a0nor anything else in all creation,\u00a0will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.<\/p>\n
\nAll my thoughts lie open toYour gaze.
\nWhen I walk, or lie down
\nYou are before me;
\never the maker and keeper
\nof my days.<\/p>\n
\nYou discern my purpose from afar,
\nand with love everlasting
\nYou besiege me:
\nin every moment of life or death
\nYou are.<\/p>\n

\nthrough and through.

\nbeyond my understanding:
\nGod of my present,
\nmy past and future, too.<\/p>\n
\nstill I search for shelter
