Call to Worship<\/strong><\/p>\n

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;<\/span>
\nlet us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.<\/span>
\nLet us come before him with thanksgiving<\/span>
\nand extol him with music and song.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the Lord is the great God,<\/span>
\nthe great King above all gods.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Come, let us bow down in worship,<\/span>
\nlet us kneel before the <\/span>Lord our Maker;<\/span>
\nfor he is our God<\/span>
\nand we are the people of his pasture,<\/span>
\nthe flock under his care.<\/span>

Reading Isaiah 51 : 1- 3\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness<\/span>
\nand who seek the <\/span>Lord:<\/span>
\nlook to the rock from which you were cut<\/span>
\nand to the quarry from which you were hewn;<\/span>
\n<\/span>look to Abraham, your father,<\/span>
\nand to Sarah, who gave you birth.<\/span>
\nWhen I called him he was only one man,<\/span>
\nand I blessed him and made him many.<\/span>
\nThe Lord will surely comfort Zion<\/span>
\nand will look with compassion on all her ruins;<\/span>
\nhe will make her deserts like Eden,<\/span>
\nher wastelands like the garden of the Lord.<\/span>

Reading Hebrews 11:32-34 & 11: 39 – 12:2\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.<\/span><\/p>\n

These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised,<\/span>
\n<\/span>since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MP428: Lord for the years<\/b><\/p>\n

1 Lord, for the years Your love has kept and guided,
\nurged and inspired us, cheered us on our way,
\nsought us and saved us, pardoned and provided:
\nLord of the years, we bring our thanks today.<\/p>\n

2 Lord, for that word, the word of life which fires us,
\nspeaks to our hears and sets our souls ablaze,
\nteaches and trains, rebukes us and inspires us:
\nLord of the word, receive Your people’s praise.<\/p>\n

3 Lord, for our land in this our generation,
\nspirits oppressed by pleasure, wealth and care:
\nfor young and old, for commonwealth and nation,
\nLord of your land, be pleased to hear our prayer.<\/p>\n

4 Lord, for our world where men disown and doubt You,
\nloveless in strength, and comfortless in pain,

CH4 172: Sing for God\u2019s glory<\/b><\/p>\n

1 Sing for God’s glory that colours the dawn of creation,
\nracing across the sky, trailing bright clouds of elation;
\nsun of delight, succeeds the velvet of the night,
\nwarming the earth’s exultation.<\/p>\n

2 Sing for God’s power that shatters the chains that would bind us,
\nsearing the darkness of fear and despair that could blind us,
\ntouching our shame with love that will not lay blame,
\nreaching out gently to find us.<\/p>\n

3 Sing for God’s justice disturbing each easy illusion,
\ntearing down tyrants and putting our pride to confusion;
\nlifeblood of right, resisting evil and slight,
\noffering freedom’s transfusion.<\/p>\n

4 Sing for God’s saints who have travelled faith’s journey before us,
\nwho in our weariness give us their hope to restore us,
\nin them we see the new creation to be,
\nspirit of love made flesh for us<\/p>\n
