The parable of the rich fool
\n<\/strong>Someone in the crowd said to him, \u2018Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.\u2019
\n<\/em>Jesus replied,\u00a0\u2018Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?\u2019<\/em>
\nThen he said to them,\u00a0\u2018Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions<\/em>.\u2019
\nAnd he told them this parable:\u00a0\u2018
\nThe ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest.\u00a0He thought to himself, \u201cWhat shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.\u201d
\n<\/em>\u2018Then he said, \u201cThis is what I\u2019ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.\u00a0And I\u2019ll say to myself, \u2018You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.<\/em>\u2019\u201d
\nBut God said to him, \u201cYou fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?\u201d
\n<\/em>This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich towards God.\u2019<\/p>\n

1 God in such love for us lent us this planet<\/div>\n
gave it a purpose in time and space<\/div>\n
small as a spark from the fire of creation,<\/div>\n
cradle of life and the home of our rock.<\/div>\n

2 Thanks be to God for its bounty and beauty,<\/div>\n
life that sustains us in body and mind;<\/div>\n
plenty for all, if we learn how to share it,<\/div>\n
