For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs.\u00a0<strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, \u2018What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don\u2019t torture me!\u2019\u00a0<strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Jesus asked him,\u00a0\u2018What is your name?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Legion,\u2019 he replied, because many demons had gone into him.\u00a0<strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission.\u00a0<strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside,\u00a0<strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus\u2019 feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.\u00a0<strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured.\u00a0<strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,<strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u2018Return home and tell how much God has done for you.\u2019\u00a0So the man went away and told all over the town how much Jesus had done for him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CH4 348 &#8211; Praise the one who breaks the darkness\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 Praise the One who breaks the darkness<br \/>\nwith a liberating light.<br \/>\nPraise the One who frees the prisoners<br \/>\nturning blindness into sight.<br \/>\nPraise the One who preached the Gospel,<br \/>\ncuring every dread disease,<br \/>\ncalming storms, and feeding thousands<br \/>\nwith the very bread of piece.<\/p>\n<p>2 Praise the One who blessed the children<br \/>\nwith a strong yet gentle word.<br \/>\nPraise the One who drove out demons<br \/>\nwith a piercing two-edged sword.<br \/>\nPraise the One who brings cool water<br \/>\nto the desert&#8217;s burning sand:<br \/>\nfrom the well comes living water,<br \/>\nquenching thirst in every land.<\/p>\n<p>3 Praise the one true love incarnate,<br \/>\nChrist, who suffered in our place.<br \/>\nJesus died and rose for many<br \/>\nthat we may know God by grace.<br \/>\nLet us sing for joy and gladness,<br \/>\nseeing what our God has done.<br \/>\nPraise the one redeeming glory.<br \/>\nPraise the One who makes us one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CH4 724 &#8211;
