\n<\/strong>Jesus comes to Jerusalem as king
\n<\/strong>As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, \u2018Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.\u2019
\nThis took place to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet:
\n\u2018Say to Daughter Zion,
\n\u201cSee, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey,
\nand on a colt, the foal of a donkey.\u201d
\nThe disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
\n\u2018Hosanna\u00a0to the Son of David!\u2019
\n\u2018Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’
\n<\/sup>\u2018Hosanna\u00a0in the highest heaven!\u2019
\nWhen Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, \u2018Who is this?\u2019
\nThe crowds answered, \u2018This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.\u2019<\/p>\n

Matthew 26 : 14 \u2013 16<\/strong> Judas agrees to betray Jesus
\n<\/strong>Then one of the Twelve\u00a0\u2013 the one called Judas Iscariot\u00a0\u2013 went to the chief priests\u00a015\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>and asked, \u2018What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?\u2019 So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Matthew 26 : 31 \u201335 <\/em><\/strong>Jesus predicts Peter\u2019s denial
\n<\/strong>Then Jesus told them, \u2018This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written:
\n\u2018\u201cI will strike the shepherd,\u00a0and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.\u201d
\n<\/sup>But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.\u2019
\nPeter replied, \u2018Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.\u2019
\n\u2018Truly I tell you,\u2019\u00a0Jesus answered,\u00a0\u2018this very night, before the cock crows, you will disown me three times.\u2019
\nBut Peter declared, \u2018Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.\u2019 And all the other disciples said the same.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Matthew 26 : 57 and 59 \u2013 60 <\/em><\/strong>Jesus before the Sanhedrin
\n<\/strong>Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled.
\nThe chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death.\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward.<\/p>\n

Finally two came forward<\/p>\n
