Call to Worship

Almighty God
\nWho sees the secret places of our hearts
\nWho discerns our thoughts and intentions
\nand from whom nothing in all creation is hidden
\nWe draw near to you
\nby the mercy of your son
\nthat your Holy Spirit may strengthen our innermost being<\/p>\n

MP 988: How deep the fathers love<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 How deep the Father\u2019s love for us,<\/div>\n
how vast beyond all measure,<\/div>\n
that He should give His only Son<\/div>\n
to make a wretch His treasure,<\/div>\n
How great the pain of searing loss \u2013<\/div>\n
the Father turns His face away,<\/div>\n
as wounds which mar the chosen one<\/div>\n
bring many sons to glory.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Repent or perish<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.
\nJesus answered,\u00a0\u2018Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?
\nI tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
\nOr those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them\u00a0\u2013 do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?
\nI tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.\u2019
\nThen he told this parable:\u00a0\u2018A man had a fig-tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any.
\nSo, he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, \u201cFor three years now I\u2019ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig-tree and haven\u2019t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?\u201d
\n\u2018\u201cSir,\u201d the man replied, \u201cleave it alone for one more year, and I\u2019ll dig round it and fertilise it.\u00a0If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n
