Luke 9:10-17 New International Version
\n<\/strong>When the apostles\u00a0returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done.
\nThen he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida,\u00a0but the crowds learned about it and followed him.
\nHe welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God,\u00a0and healed those who needed healing.
\nLate in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said,
\n\u201cSend the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.\u201d
\n<\/em>He replied,\u00a0\u201cYou give them something to eat.\u201d
\n<\/em>They answered, \u201cWe have only five loaves of bread and two fish\u2014unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0(About five thousand men were there.)
\nBut he said to his disciples,\u00a0\u201cHave them sit down in groups of about fifty each.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>The disciples did so, and everyone sat down.
\nTaking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them.\u00a0Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people.
\nThey all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.<\/strong><\/p>\n
