\nstood a lowly cattle shed,
\nwhere a mother laid her baby,
\nin a manger for His bed.
\nMary was that mother mild,
\nJesus Christ her little child.<\/p>\n
\nwho is God and Lord of all;
\nand His shelter was a stable,
\nand His cradle was a stall:
\nwith the poor and mean and lowly
\nlived on earth our Saviour holy.<\/p>\n
\nthrough His own redeeming love,
\nfor that child, so dear and gentle,
\nis our Lord in heaven above;
\nand He leads His children on
\nto the place where He is gone.<\/p>\n
\nwith the oxen standing by,
\nwe shall see Him, but in heaven,
\nset at God’s right hand on high;
\nthere His children gather round,
\nbright like stars, with glory crowned.<\/p>\n
\na draughty stable with an open door;
\nMary cradling the baba she bore –
\nthe Prince of glory is His name.

\n<\/strong>At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah\u2019s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary\u2019s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: \u201cBlessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!\u00a0<\/sup>But why am I so favoured, that the mother of my Lord\u00a0should come to me?
\n<\/sup>As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfil his promises to her!\u201d<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>And Mary said:
\n\u201cMy soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour,
\nfor he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant.
\nFrom now on all generations will call me blessed,
\nfor the Mighty One has done great things for me\u2014 holy is his name.
\nHis mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.
\nHe has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
\nhe has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
\nHe has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.
\nHe has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.
\nHe has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever,\u00a0just as he promised our ancestors.\u201d
\nMary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.<\/p>\n
\noutcast and stranger, Lord of all!
\nChild who inherits all our transgressions,
\nall our demerits on Him fall.<\/p>\n
\ngentle and lowly lived below:
\nnow as our glorious mighty Redeemer,
\nsee Him victorious over each foe.<\/p>\n
\nangels behold Him on His throne:
\nworthy our Saviour of all their praises;
\nhappy for ever are His own.<\/p>\n
\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
\nwing your flight o’er all the earth;
\nye who sang creation’s story
\nnow proclaim Messiahs birth:

\nChrist, the new born King.
