Call to Worship
\n<\/strong>The Lord has forsaken me
\nThe Lord has forgotten me
\nCan a mother forget her baby \u2013 have no compassion on the child she has borne?
\nI will never forget you my people
\nI will hold you in the palm of my hand
\nI have engraved you on the palms of my hand<\/p>\n

MP 1072 : In Christ alone
\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

1 In Christ alone my hope is found,
\nHe is my light, my strength, my song;
\nthis cornerstone the fiercest drought and storm.
\nWhat heights of love, what depths of peace,
\nwhen fears are stilled, wen strivings cease!
\nMy comforter, my all in all,
\nhere is the love of Christ I stand.<\/p>\n

2 In Christ alone – who took on flesh,
\nfullness of God in helpless Babe!
\nThis gift of love and righteousness,
\nscorned by the ones he came to save
\ntill on that cross as Jesus died,
\nthe wrath of God was satisfied,
\nfor every sin on Him was laid:
\nhere in the death of Christ I stand.<\/p>\n

3 There in the ground his body kay,
\nlight of the world by darkness slain,
\nthen, bursting forth in glorious day,
\nup from the grave, He rose again!
\nAnd as he stands in victory
\nsin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
\nfor I am His and He is mine –
\nbought with the precious blood of Christ.<\/p>\n

4 No guilt in life, no fear in death,
\nthis is the power of Christ in me;
\nfrom life’s first cry to final breath,
\nJesus commands my destiny.
\nNo power of hell, no scheme of man
\ncan ever pluck me from His Hand;
\ntill He returns or calls me home,
\nhere in the power of Christ I’ll stand!<\/p>\n

JP 139 : Jesus love is very wonderful<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Jesus’ love is very wonderful,

\nO wonderful love!
\nSo high you can’t get over it,
\nso low you can’t get under it,
\nso wide you can’t get round it.
\nO wonderful love!<\/p>\n

CH4 706 : For the healing of the nations<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

1 For the healing of the nations,
\nLord, we pray with one accord;
\nfor a just and equal sharing,
\nof the things that earth affords.
\nTo a life of love in action
\nhelp us rise and pledge our word.<\/p>\n

2 Lead us forward into freedom,
\nfrom despair your world release,
\nthat, redeemed from war and hatred,
\nall may come and go in peace,
\nShow us how through care and goodness
\nfear will die and hope increase.<\/p>\n

3 All that kills abundant living,
\nlet it from the earth be banned:
\npride of status, race, or schooling,
\ndogmas that obscure you plan.
\nIn our common quest for justice
\nmay we hallow life’s brief span.<\/p>\n

4 You, Creator-God, have written
\nyour great name on humankind;
\nfor our growing in your likeness
\nbring the life of Christ to mind:
\nthat by our response and service
\nearth its destiny may find.<\/p>\n

Reading Luke 23:32-43 New International Version<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals\u2014one on his right, the other on his left.
\nJesus said, \u201cFather, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.\u201d And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
\nThe people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him.
\nThey said, \u201cHe saved others; let him save himself if he is God\u2019s Messiah, the Chosen One.\u201d
\nThe soldiers also came up and mocked him.\u00a0They offered him wine vinegar\u00a0and said, \u201cIf you are the king of the Jews,\u00a0save yourself.\u201d
\nThere was a written notice above him, which read:\u00a0this is the king of the Jews.
\nOne of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: \u201cAren\u2019t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!\u201d
\nBut the other criminal rebuked him. \u201cDon\u2019t you fear God,\u201d he said, \u201csince you are under the same sentence?\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.\u201d
\nThen he said, \u201cJesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.\u201d
\nJesus answered him,\u00a0\u201cTruly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nJesus, God’s own Son,

\nHoly One.

\nand leaving Your Spirit
\ntill the work on earth is done.<\/p>\n

\nO for sinners slain;<\/p>\n

\nand there I’ll serve my King for ever
