\n<\/u>Then Joshua assembled all the tribes of Israel at Shechem, and they presented themselves before God.
\nJoshua said to all the people,\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u2018Now fear the\u00a0Lord\u00a0and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshipped beyond the River Euphrates and in Egypt, and serve the\u00a0Lord.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But if serving the\u00a0Lord\u00a0seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the\u00a0Lord.\u2019
\nThen the people answered, \u2018Far be it from us to forsake the\u00a0Lord\u00a0to serve other gods!\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>It was the\u00a0Lord\u00a0our God himself who brought us and our parents up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. \n<\/u>Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil\u2019s schemes.\u00a0For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.<\/p>\n
\nand put your armour on,
\nstrong in the strength
\nwhich God supplies
\nthrough His enteral Son.
\nStrong in the Lord of hosts,
\nand in His mighty powers;
\nwho in the strength of Jesus trusts
\nis more than conqueror.<\/p>\n
\nwith all His strength endued;
\nand take, to arm you for the fight,
\nthe panoply of God;
\nto keep your armour bright,
\nattend with constant care,
\nstill walking in your Captain’s sight
\nand watching unto prayer.<\/p>\n
\nwrestle and fight and pray;
\ntread all the powers of darkness down
\nand win the well-fought day.
\nThat, having all things done,
\nand all your conflicts past,
\nye may o’ercome through Christ alone,
\nand stand entire at last.<\/p>\n
\nHe is my light, my strength, my song;
\nthis cornerstone, this solid ground,
\nfirm through the fiercest drought and storm
\nwhat depths of peace
\nwhen fears are stilled,
\nwhen strivings cease!
\nMy comforter, my all in all,
\nhere in the love of Christ I stand.<\/p>\n
\nfullness of God in helpless Babe!
\nThis gift of love and righteousness,
\nscorned by the ones he came to save,
\ntill on that cross as Jesus died,
\nthe wrath of God was satisfied;
\nfor every sin on Him was laid;
\nhere in the death of Christ I live.<\/p>\n
\nlight of the world by darkness slain,
\nthen, bursting forth in glorious day,
\nup from the grave He rose again!
\nAnd as he stands in victory
\nsin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
\nfor I am His and He is mine –
\nbrought with the precious blood of Christ.<\/p>\n
\nthis is the power of Christ in me;
\nfrom life’s first cry to final breath,
\nJesus commands my destiny.
\nNo power of hell, no scheme of man
\ncan ever pluck me from His hand;
\ntill He returns or calls me home,
\nhere in the power of Christ I’ll stand!<\/p>\n
