CH4 510: Jesus calls us here to meet him<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Jesus, calls us here to meet him
\nas, through word and song and prayer,
\nwe affirm God’s promised presence
\nwhere his people live and care.
\nPraise the God who keeps his promise;
\npraise the Son who calls us friends;
\npraise the Spirit who, among us,
\nto our hopes and fears attends<\/p>\n

2 Jesus calls us to confess him
\nWord of life and Lord of all,
\nsharer of our flesh and frailness,
\nsaving all who fail or fall.
\nTell his tales that all may hear;
\ntell his tales that all may hear;
\ntell the world that Christ in glory
\ncame to earth to meet us here.<\/p>\n

3 Jesus calls us to each other,
\nvastly different though we are;
\ncreed and colour, class and gender
\nneither limit nor debar.
\nJoin the hand of friend and stranger;
\njoin the hands of age and youth;
\njoin the faithful and the doubter
\nin their common search for truth.<\/p>\n

4 Jesus calls us to his table
\nrooted firm in time and space,
\nwhere the Church in earth and heaven
\nfinds a common meeting place.
\nShare the bread, the wine, his body;
\nshare the love of which we sing;
\nshare the feast for saints and sinners
\nhosted by our Lord and King.<\/p>\n

Acts 10:44-48<\/strong><\/p>\n

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on\u00a0all who heard the message.\u00a0The circumcised believers who had come with Peter\u00a0were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out\u00a0even on Gentiles.
\nFor they heard them speaking in tongues\u00a0and praising God.
\nThen Peter said,
\n\u201cSurely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water.\u00a0They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.\u201d
\nSo, he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.\u00a0Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.<\/p>\n

John 15:8-17<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is to my Father\u2019s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
\n\u2018As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.\u00a0If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father\u2019s commands and remain in his love.\u00a0I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
\nMy command is this: love each other as I have loved you.
\nGreater love has no one than this: to lay down one\u2019s life for one\u2019s friends.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master\u2019s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.\u00a0You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit\u00a0\u2013 fruit that will last\u00a0\u2013 and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
\nThis is my command: love each other.<\/p>\n

1 A new commandment I give unto you,
\nthat you love one another as I have loved you,

By this shall all men know that you are My disciples,
\nif you have love for one another.
\nBy this shall all men know that you are My disciples,

MP 746\u00a0 What a friend we have in Jesus<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 What a friend we have in Jesus,
\nall our sins and griefs to bear!
\nWhat a privilege to carry
\neverything to God in prayer!
\nO what peace we often forfeit,
\nO what needless pain we bear –
\nall because we do not carry
\neverything to God in prayer!<\/p>\n

2 Have we trials and temptations?
\nIs there trouble anywhere?
\nWe should never be discouraged:
\ntake it to the Lord in prayer!
\nCan we find a friend so faithful,
\nwho will all our sorrows share?
\nJesus knows our every weakness –
\ntake it to the Lord in prayer!<\/p>\n

3 Are we weak and heavy-laden,
\ncumbered with a load of care?
\nPrecious Saviour, still our refuge!
\nTake it to the Lord in prayer!
\nDo thy friends despise, forsake thee?
\nTake it to the Lord in prayer!
\nIn His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
