1 O God, you search me and you know me.

Mark 8 : 31 \u2013 38 NIV<\/strong><\/p>\n

He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things\u00a0and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed\u00a0and after three days\u00a0rise again.<\/p>\n

He spoke plainly\u00a0about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.<\/p>\n

But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter.\u00a0\u201cGet behind me, Satan!\u201d\u00a0he said.\u00a0\u201cYou do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/sup>Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.<\/p>\n

For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.\u00a0What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?\u00a03<\/sup>If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man\u00a0will be ashamed of them\u00a0when he comes\u00a0in his Father\u2019s glory with the holy angels.\u201d<\/p>\n
