CH4 543 : Longing for light<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Longing for light, we wait in darkness.
\nLonging for truth, we turn to you.
\nMake us your own, your holy people,
\nlight for the world to see.<\/p>\n

2 Longing for peace, our world is troubled.
\nLonging for hope, many despair.

Reading Mark 9 : 2 \u2013 9<\/strong><\/p>\n

After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone.<\/p>\n

There he was transfigured before them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.\u00a0And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.<\/p>\n

Peter said to Jesus, \u2018Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters\u00a0\u2013 one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.\u2019\u00a0(He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)<\/p>\n

Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: \u2018This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!\u2019<\/p>\n

Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.<\/p>\n

As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.<\/p>\n

CH4 336 : Christ is our light<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Christ is our light! the bright and morning star
\ncovering with radiance, all from near and far.
\nChrist be our light, shine one, shine on we pray
\ninto our hearts, into our world today.<\/p>\n

2 Christ is our love! baptized that we may know
\nthe love of God among us, swooping low.
\nChrist be our love, bring us to turn our face
\nand see in you the light of heaven’s embrace.<\/p>\n

3 Christ is our joy! transforming wedding guest!
\nThrough water turned to wine the feast was blessed.
\nChrist be out joy; your glory let us see,
\nas your disciples did in Galilee.<\/p>\n

CH4 458 : At the name of Jesus
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 At the name of Jesus
\nevery knee shall bow,
\nevery tongue confess him
\nKing of glory now;
\n\u2018tis the Fathers pleasure
\nwe should call him Lord
\nwho from the beginning
\nwas the mighty Word.<\/p>\n

2 Brothers, sisters name him
\nwith love strong as death,
\nbut with awe and wonder
\nand with bated breath!
\nHe is God the Saviour
\nHe is Christ the Lord,
\never to be worshipped,
\ntrusted and adored.<\/p>\n

3 In your hearts enthrone him;
\nthere let him subdue
\nall that is not holy
\nall that is not true:
\nlet his grace support you
\nin temptations hour
\nand his will enfold you
\nin its light and power.<\/p>\n

4 In his Fathers glory
\nChrist shall come again,
\nangel hosts proclaiming
\nhis return to reign
\nFor all wreaths of empire
\nmeet upon his brow
\nand our hearts confess him
