Hymn MP 651: The Kingdom of God<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 The kingdom of God is justice and joy,
\nfor Jesus restores what sin would destroy;
\nGod’s power and glory in Jesus we know,
\nand here and hereafter the kingdom shall grow.<\/p>\n

2 The kingdom of God is mercy and grace,
\nthe captives are freed, the sinners find place,
\nthe outcast are welcomed God’s banquet to share,
\nand hope is awakened in place of despair.<\/p>\n

3 The kingdom of God is challenge and choice,
\nbelieve the good news, repent and rejoice!
\nHis love for us sinners brought Christ to His cross,
\nour crisis of judgement for gain or for loss.<\/p>\n

4 God’s kingdom is come, the gift and the goal,
\nin Jesus begun, in heaven made whole;
\nthe heirs of the kingdom shall answer His call,
\nand all things cry ‘Glory!’ to God all-in-all.<\/p>\n

Mark 1:14-20 New International Version<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>After John\u00a0was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee,\u00a0proclaiming the good news of God.
\n\u201cThe time has come,\u201d\u00a0he said.\u00a0\u201cThe kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe\u00a0the good news!\u201d
\nAs Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
\n\u201cCome, follow me,\u201d\u00a0Jesus said,\u00a0\u201cand I will send you out to fish for people.\u201d
\nAt once they left their nets and followed him.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/sup>When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets.
\nWithout delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.<\/p>\n

CH4 339: Sing of Andrew<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Sing of Andrew, John’s disciple,
\nled by faith through ways untrod,
\ntill the Bapist cried at Jordan,
\n‘There behold the Lamb of God’
\nStirred by hearing this new teacher,
\nAndrew, freed from doubt and fear,
\nran to tell his brother Simon,
\n‘God’s Anointed One is here!’<\/p>\n

2 Sing of Andrew, called by Jesus
\nfrom the shores of Galilee,
\nleaving boats and nets and kindred,
\ntrusting in that ‘Follow me’.
\nWhen a boy’s small meal fed thousands,
\nwhen inquiring Greeks found care,
\nwhen the Spirit came in blessing –
\nAndrew faithfully was there.<\/p>\n

3 Sing of Andrew; bold apostle,
\nsent to make the gospel known,
\nfaithful to his Lord’s example,
\ncalled to make a cross his own.
\nSo may we who prize his memory
\nhonour Christ in our own day,
\nbearing witness to our neighbours,
\nliving what we sing and pray.<\/p>\n
