MP 498 O God, our help in ages past<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 O God, our help in ages past,
\nour hope for years to come,
\nour shelter from the stormy blast,
\nand our eternal home.<\/p>\n

2 Under the shadow of Your throne,
\nYour saints have dwelt secure;
\nsufficient is Your arm alone,
\nand our defense is sure.<\/p>\n

3 Before the hills in order stood,
\nor earth recieved her frame,
\nfrom everlasting You are God,
\nto endless years the same.<\/p>\n

4 A thousand ages in Your sight
\nare like an evening gone,

Praise! 922 God, as with silent hearts<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 God, as with silent hears we bring to mind
\nhow hate and war diminth humankind,
\nwe pause – and seek in worship to increase
\nour knowledge of the things that make for peace.<\/p>\n

2 Hollow our will as humbly we recall
\nthe lives of those who gave and give their all.
\nWe than you, Lord, for women, children, men
\nwho seek to serve in love, today as then.<\/p>\n

3 Give us deep faith to comfort those who mourn,
\nhigh hope to share with all the newly born,
\nstrong live in our pursuit of human worth:
\n‘lest we forget’ the future of this earth.<\/p>\n

4 So, Prince of Peace, disarm our trust in power,
\nteach us to coax the plant of peace to flower.
\nMay we, impassioned by your living Word,
\nremember forward to a world restored.<\/p>\n

Bible Reading Revelations 22: 1 – 5<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life,
\nas clear as crystal,
\nflowing from the throne of Godand the Lamb
\ndown the middle of the great street of the city.<\/p>\n

On each side of the river stood the tree of life,
\nbearing twelve crops of fruit,
\nyielding its fruit every month.
\nAnd the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.<\/p>\n

No longer will there be any curse.
\nThe throne of God and the lamb will be in the city,
\nand his servants will serve him.<\/p>\n

They will see his face,
\nand his name will be on their foreheads.
\nThere will be no more night.<\/p>\n

They will not need the light of a lamp
\nor the light of the sun,
\nfor the Lord God will give them light.<\/p>\n

And they will reign for ever and ever.<\/p>\n

1 For the healing of the nations,
\nLord, we pray with one accord;
\nfor a just and equal sharing
\nof the things that earth affords.
\nTo a life of love in action
\nhelp us raise and pledge our word.<\/p>\n

\nfrom despairyour wolrd release,
\nthat, redeemed from war and hatred,
\nall may come and go in peace.
\nShow us how through care and goodness
\nfear will die and hope increase.<\/p>\n
